David Medeiros Obituary

David “Dave” Paul Medeiros, 71, of Eastover, North Carolina, passed away on February 1, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. He was born on September 20, 1952, in Bristol, Massachusetts. David, also known as Dave or Papa Dave, was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

After high school, Dave joined the United States Army, where he served with honor and received numerous accommodations, awards, and ribbons. He retired as a 51Z50 Generator Engineer Supervisor, leaving a lasting impact on his fellow servicemen and women.

In 1978, Dave married the love of his life, Linda Huntsinger Medeiros, and together they had three sons, David Paul Medeiros, Matthew Michael Medeiros and Terry Martin Parker. Dave and Linda shared 45 beautiful years of marriage, filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Dave’s family meant the world to him, and he found great joy in spending time with them.

Dave had a deep passion for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He possessed a vast knowledge of the Bible and enjoyed engaging in discussions about God’s Word with others. His faith was a guiding light in his life, and he found solace in his relationship with God.

One of Dave’s other great passions was gardening. He had a natural talent for growing a bountiful vegetable garden, which he generously shared with his family and neighbors. Dave’s generosity extended beyond his garden, as he was always quick to lend a helping hand to those in need. His humor and kind-hearted nature endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Dave leaves behind his beloved wife, Linda, sons, David Paul Medeiros (Lori) and Matthew Michael Medeiros (Megan), and Terry Martin Parker (Becky) and four grandchildren, Brianna Medeiros, Maxton Medeiros, Benny Medeiros and Dominic Anderson, brothers Joseph Medeiros, Bob Medeiros, Tom Medeiros, Steve Medeiros, Christopher Medeiros and sister Sue Raposa

Dave is preceded by his loving parents, Joseph P. Medeiros and Nellie Medeiros, sister Helen Medeiros and his brother, Michael Medeiros, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty during the Vietnam War.

The funeral services for Dave Medeiros will be held at Jernigan and Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville, North Carolina on Wednesday February 7, 2024, from 10:30-11:30 am where the family will receive friends. Following the services, at 12:00, he will be laid to rest with the other brave men and women of our Armed Forces at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, Fort Liberty, NC, where his memory will be forever honored.

The Medeiros family deeply appreciates your support and asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Faith Wesleyan Church at 2922 Legion Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28306. His wife Linda would also like to thank the outstanding nursing staff at Whispering Pines Nursing Home. The care Dave received there was exceptional, and he and Linda were treated like family. Linda would like to extend a special thank you to the following nursing staff. These special individuals went above and beyond the call of duty: Niake Womack (CNA), Janaye Latouche (LPN), Christopher McLean (CNA2), Nicole Brown(CNA2 Wound Care), Iris Radcliffe (CNA), Seanna Armstrong (CNA), Wanda Adams-McGee; Shuan Gillis Sr.(Floor Tech), Lenayan Heslip (CNA), Diamonde McCullam (CNA), Delsie Jackson(Receptionist), and Shanda Richardson.

Dave’s passing has left a void in the lives of those who loved him. His family and friends will forever miss his laughter and the warmth he brought to every gathering. He embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit, and an unending generosity that could be seen in his care for his family and those around him. Although Dave is no longer with us, his legacy of love, faith, and kindness will continue to inspire and touch the lives of all who knew him.
