Kathleen Lea Johnson, 83, of Jasper, GA passed away on March 5, 2024. She was born in Greensboro, NC to the late Luther Franklin and Kathleen Thigpen Johnson.
Lea moved with her husband and children from Fayetteville, NC to Marietta, GA. She graduated from Georgia State University where she developed a special interest in archaeology leading her to volunteer on several archaeological digs. Lea later retired after working as a legal secretary for over 20 years. She enjoyed many hobbies in retirement. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed making beautiful items for friends and family. She also enjoyed interior decorating, gardening, and restoring and painting furniture.
She is survived by her children, Kathleen Bethune and Christopher Bethune of Canton, GA; sisters Pat Butler of Fayetteville, NC and Veronica Page of Morehead City, NC; brother Philip Johnson (Debbie) of Greensboro, NC and many special nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held on March 20, 2024, at Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery.
