Obituary

Don Winfield Wallace, 74 entered into eternal life on September 18, 2017 with his loving wife by his side.

Don was born and raised in Clearwater, Florida. He played football in high school and was a lifelong fan of all sports. He attended the University of Florida and entered the military upon graduation. He served in the United States Army including two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. He received numerous distinctions and honors including the Army Command and General Staff College, Airborne Ranger, and Bronze Star Recipient. He was a career military officer, retiring with the rank of Major.
Don met and married the love of his life Gloria while stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Once he retired from the 18th Airborne Corps, he and Gloria opened Adam’s formal wear, which they operated for 10 years, then transitioned together into real estate. His joy was spending time with his wife and best friend, gardening, supporting his sons in their school and sporting careers and serving as chauffer and number one fan for Shaunessy during her many sporting events and activities.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at 2:00 pm at the Life Center Church in St Pauls, NC. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Life Center Church.
Don was predeceased by his parents, Winton Winfield and Margaret (Lossing) Wallace; and his sister Mary Kathryn Libby and beloved fur babies, Nicky and Rusty.
He is survived by his devoted wife Gloria Joan (Huggins) Wallace of the home; his sons Dr. Jon Michael Wallace and daughter-in-law Kristin of Texas and Don Bradley Wallace of North Carolina; his grandchildren, Jonathan, Isabella, and Emma Wallace and Shaunessy McMillian; brothers, Vic Wallace (Wendy) of Florida, John Wallace of Florida; sisters, Celia (Wallace) Gunter of Florida, Jackie (Wallace) Cassaway (Demetrius) of Missouri, and Frances Wallace of Florida; brother-in-law, Norman Libby of North Carolina; a very special niece Dannelle Dee Bunnell; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, coach, patriot, and friend to all. He was active in the community, his church and will be greatly missed.
