FT. BRAGG- Mrs. Emily Martha Thornton, 32, of Fort Bragg, formerly of Texas, left to join her Heavenly Father on December 21, 2017.
Funny, strong, beautiful, and creative are the words friends have agreed most describe our dear Emily. Emily at the best of times could wake up a room with her vivacious personality, make anyone feel loved and cared for, and make you follow her lead (even if it was a really bad idea). During her worst of times, she would stun you with her generosity, spirited humor, and sense of precociousness that stayed strong within her, even during her times of sickness.
After high school, Emily married the love of her life, raised two spirited daughters, and found time to volunteer at church, Christ Kitchen, and the Special Olympics. Emily had a passion for all things creative. She has been a jeweler, furniture designer, and painter. She could leave a stylish and inspired finish on anything she touched. She is loved as a mother, wife, sister, daughter, and friend to many.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 2 pm in Jernigan-Warren Chapel in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The family will receive friends following the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Emily is survived by her husband, Jeremy Thornton; daughters, Reese Thornton of the home and McKenzie McLennan of Victoria, TX; mother, Kathleen Abrahamsen of Victoria; 2 sisters, Rachel LaRocco of Wilmington and Jessica Burt of Becker, MN; and brother, Tyler Hawthorne of Victoria.

Celebrating the life of Emily Martha Thornton
Thank you for signing Emily Martha Thornton's Guestbook
Hello Thorton Family, I'm a neighbor living in the area.
Having heard of your most recent and very tragic loss, I want to leave you a brief post.
I too, well know the grief of losing love ones, and that at times like these, it is encouraging just to know that others are thinking about us. Something that had really helped me to cope with such losses, is the wonderful promise of Christ Jesus, recorded for our comfort at John 5:28,29. I hope, that when you are feeling up to it, that you are going to look up these powerful Scriptures, in your copy of The Bible. Also, I hope that this brief note, finds The Family feeling as good as can be expected Today.
With Greatest Sympathy,Your Neighbor : P.D.Walker.

My deep condolences to the Thornton family,
I was really touched by the loss of your loved one. When a precious loved one falls asleep in death, it brings to mind God’s precious son Jesus. It is comforting to note how he viewed death. I would like to share it with you from the gift that the Most High God has given to each & everyone of us. His written word the Bible in the Book of John chapter 11 verses 11-14. Please, notice that Jesus viewed death as one Sleeping. He viewed death in such a comforting way.
And, the Most High God promises that we can have the opportunity to see our loved ones again in perfect health (Psalms 83:18, Acts 24:15, & Isaiah 33:24). He even says where: Psalms 37:11 and for how long Psalms 37:29).
I really hope that these promises were as comforting to you as they were to us when our daughter died and also when my precious husband of 50 years fell asleep in death.
Written to you in deep sympathy,
