Carrol White "Bob" Horne



C.W. “Bob” Horne, 88 of Fayetteville passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018 in the NC State Veterans Nursing Home with his beloved family by his side.

Bob was born on December 8, 1929 in Fayetteville to the late Lillie Murphy and George W. Horne. He was preceded in death by his grand-daughter, Erin Johnson and sisters, Agnes Blake McCall, Mildred Raynor and Myra Belle Carter Clark.
Bob was a Navy veteran and a retired mail carrier with the US Postal Service. He was a faithful member of Salem United Methodist Church in Eastover and also the Knights of Pythias.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 2:00 pm in Salem United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Beck officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey St. with military honors. The family will receive friends in the church parlor one hour prior to the service.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Gilda Cain Horne of the home; son, Mark Cain Horne of Lincolnton ; daughter, Brenda Horne Johnson and husband Robbie of Fayetteville; sister, Zula Hubbard of Fayetteville; brother, George W. Horne, Jr. of Fayetteville and a grandson, Stephen Johnson and wife Sara of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two great-grandaughters, Sadie Johnson and Sloane Johnson and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Gail Melvin and the staff at the NC State Veterans Nursing Home for their care and compassion shown to Bob over the last few months.
